I went to the dermatologist today for my annual full body skin exam! When did you last have yours?

They cut out a spot...results in a week!
What did the doctor think it was? Basal, squamous or melanoma?
I was completely oblivious to the risk until my brother was initially diagnosed with melanoma in 2003. He convinced me to get my annual checks because siblings typically are exposed to the same risks and thus seem to have the same results.
@FigNewton Am guessing you are fair skinned with light eyes.
Fair skinned....blonde hair (well, when I had hair)...blue eyes. Several freckles and moles.

Is this what I'll look forward to when I'm old?
@SINAI Nope...it's what you look forward to if you don't protect your skin as you should. I know of people in their 20's saved by a melanoma diagnosis from such an exam.
I am not proud of this and I know I need to get to a dermatologist, but I have never gone. Like many of us I have a family history and spent my summers as a youth sunburned. Thanks for the reminder. Best of luck with your results🤞🏻

Ewwwwww no one's taking chunks off me
@PoizonApple No chunks...can hardly see a thing. And trust me, if the "chunk" were found to be something, it could save your life!

I’m due.. it’s been a couple of years
@RumorHasIt Get it done! You won't regret it!

I don’t have to go to a dermatologist or leave home for that matter for a full body examination 😁

In saying that I hope your results come back clear
@Les02 I'm always open to give a second opinion, although I would encourage you see the doctor for a more professional (but probably less thorough) examination 😉

@FigNewton Lol, in all seriousness I get my doctor to check me out once a year due to the time I spend at the beach. She’s quite cute so I offered to return the favour but sadly she declined 😐️🤷‍♀️
My doc is quite the looker as well! She had nice hands!
The results were benign! Yippee! Wear sunscreen everyone!
@FigNewton Good to hear. What was it? The dysplastic nevi you thought it might be?
No...it was something else even less worrisome. Probably an age spot...lol. My god I'm turning into my grandpa!
@LithiumDrop You should! The skin is your largest organ and most exposed!
