Is there any reason to be confused where sound is coming from?

I work in a bakery just last night I was having trouble knowing where the direction of sound is coming from. Expessally loud sounds. Our oven makes a loud high pitched beeping sound and I was confused on what the sound was and what direction it was coming from. I turned my head in the opposite direction searching for the sound. I was confused for about 20 seconds. I seem to be hearing everything just fine. I do have some pain in right ear in the outer part.

So could it be from an ear infection?

I've also been having more anxiety recently which causes me to zone out and disassociate espessaly when I'm working by myself.

Is it a symptom of anxiety?

It could be an ear infecting, especially if there is pain or heat... Could just be blocked also... Get some ear drops and try the simple cheap things first

Yes it could be the ear infection. The brain interprets the difference in time that sound is perceived by each ear. If one isn't acute due to infection your will not be able to calculate this accurately. It's a little like closing one eye and losing depth perception. Not a direct analogy but similar in that you need both inputs to be able to properly interpret the information reaching your brain.
