We really only need 4 hours of rem. The problem is, many people have a hard time getting actual rem sleep. We get eight hours of being in the horizontal position in a kind of twilight state, but we don't get the rem sleep that is necessary for good mental and physical health.

There's only a few things I'd put sleep off for. I've invested in a high quality latex form matress and box spring and love spending time in bed.
