I don't call it a shower. It's a 20 minute live concert, featuring me!! ✌
annamk · 26-30, F
@Harriet03 Yes! I am the same lol
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@annamk Duet? 😬
Peaceful · F
Get a small heater so you can use water that isn't so hot. It removes the natural oils in your skin and dries you out even more.
helenS · 36-40, F
I spend no more than 3-4 minutes in the shower cabin. It takes 2 minutes to soap myself, using soap and a wet washcloth, and two more minutes to get rid of the lather.
I use cold water.
I feel very strong and powerful when I leave the shower.

The only time I take 5 mins is when I’m super late or I spend lik half an hour in the shower, it’s like going into another dimension
Faust76 · 46-50, M
I don't know, let's find out! Lathering up: 5 mins, trimming & shaping beard... aaagh aagh blood and shaving cream everywhere aah!!

...

ahem, where was I? Oh right, 5-15 mins, washing hair 5 mins, rinsing everything off 5 mins. Another 5-15 mins if I'm doing the downside fluff, too, and that's including no time for just enjoying. Of course, I can do a lot of that while in shower. So I guess 30 mins on the typical.

I fogrot where that shower length recommendation came from, especially so short. I know someone was way back asking the same question, getting fussed that their kids were spending more than few minutes in the shower due to water costs. And everybody was replying like "Sure, no more than 32 -- 45 seconds, tops!". But if you can afford that and it's not a drought or anything, sure why not enjoy it.
beautifulsnowstorm · 36-40, M
@Faust76 I think it came from the Navy.
Faust76 · 46-50, M
@beautifulsnowstorm There are regions where water is so scarce it needs to be rationed of course, and on overall conservation. And then you have where hot water is just expensive, but I shudder to think being so poor as not to afford a shower. Other than that mostly makes me think of various shared-bathroom quarters, where you might not get to keep the place reserved whole morning, indeed.

But the parent post does mean skin health, which seems to be an issue often pushed. But when there are people who take multiple, long, hot showers in a day, let alone swimming in pools literally all day and look none the worse for it, it must not be universal.
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
It depends on who is in it with me
I have health problems so i sometimes shower 4 times a day. Must be the cleanest man in the UK lol
adhane05 · 31-35, M
A long time... I have to run around in circles just to get wet because I am skinny. 😥
wheels1972 · M
i shower every day but because of my disability it can sometimes take over an hour!
SW-User

annamk · 26-30, F

annamk · 26-30, F
@wheels1972 oh, yeah 😂
But it seemed you thought it took longer a year ago, so you are getting better at it! 😜
AnonymousJSS · 22-25, F
Like one hour.
PS: I shower at night.
SW-User
I should be using less time but do everything in one sitting, brush my teeth while I’m applying conditioner. So I’m trying my best to be economical. I put treatment in my conditioner so I have to let it sit for 3 minutes before rinsing.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
Upwards of an hour to an hour and a half.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@annamk Both, actually.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@Northshorenappy I don't need to explain my whole showering routine to you.
annamk · 26-30, F
@Sidewinder It does invite some questions though 😅
If you're going to answer it at all you should expect that even if you don't want to expand on it
I have a full shower in the morning thats around 20 minuets. I some times have 3 showers later over the rest of the day.
beautifulsnowstorm · 36-40, M
I lay in the bottom of the shower and let the water warm me up. The sound is so zen like. I love it. I also catch a 5 minute nap in there too.
bookerdana · M
I'm only getting started at 4 minutes. Dryness is more likely from dry air due to heating system
wheels1972 · M
it takes me about half an hour to shower
annamk · 26-30, F
@wheels1972 Here is another one! You are very clean indeed 😂
wheels1972 · M
@annamk hahahahahaha oh dear
thepreposterouspanda · 31-35, M
Usually around 5-7 minutes. :) Less if I don't have the time haha.
About 15-20 minutes, generally. My skin also dries out during winter, so I keep lotion nearby for afterwards.
@bijouxbroussard out of respect i shall not use the quote from Silence of The Lambs
TheotherAndy · 41-45, M
I couldn’t agree more, I am the same way
Krishh · 46-50, M

I spend about 15-20 minutes. My building is really old, without much heating but there’s a heater built in the bathroom wall. I close the door, turn it on just enough to warm the room, then turn it off before getting into the shower. With a combination of the heated room and the hot shower steam, it’s just right. And I dress before stepping out of the bathroom.
