Is there a refusal of treatment document?

Like do not resuscitate but stating not to take one to a hospital
offingg · 26-30, F
@Peaceful It differs in each country. There you go; https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Informed_refusal

It’s out of autonomy. The patient can decide if they want medical treatment and they can refuse it.

They can even be discharged against medical advice.

I recommend reading more.

There is where I live. My wife has both forms.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@gmatthewb So what's this form called?
gmatthewb · 51-55, M
@Jackaloftheazuresand I can't remember exactly, had if filled out mid last year and has been in a file since. Refused treatment or something like that. I'll have to look in the file. Patient has to be terminal to have it though, which my wife is.
Miram · 31-35, F
It's included in the advance directive document. But the paramedics and other people, doctors and relatives and witnesses, without direct access to your files aren't legally accountable.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@Miram I'll just have to staple it to myself then
Miram · 31-35, F
@Jackaloftheazuresand Why are you planning to refuse treatment?
GlassDog · 41-45, M
Yes, and no. You (or someone on your behalf) has to sign consent for certain treatments, but if you are found unconscious and with a broken arm, I don't think there's any way of stopping them putting a cast on you unless you wake up and tell them not to.

Doubt it. Thanks Big Pharma.

@offingg name it please. And also share why my comment made me a conspiracy theorist. I will wait 🤣

@offingg I'm familiar. More than you think. But cool
Gumba1000 · M
In the UK, yes
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@Gumba1000 You probably don't have this specific but I'll ask just in case, what if the person is crawling away?
Gumba1000 · M
@Jackaloftheazuresand I'm not sure.

Sure and it's good to have one if indeed that's what you want.
DaughterOfTheDust · 22-25, F
No, If you refuse treatment they just send you home.
UncleJlovesbrazil · 61-69, M
Yes. I work in a hospital and know that there is actually a wiever releasing the hospital from responsibility when the patient refuses a certain treatment. We also have one if the same for those who release themselves ADO (against doctor's orders).
