What age do you consider old...

This will probably differ according to what age group you are in...when I was young 60 seemed old ...
helenS · 36-40, F Best Comment
In fact age is mainly a state of mind.
Platinum · M
It is, I'm 79 and feel better than when I was 60 ....@helenS

When I was 10 I thought 50 meant you were practically dead. Now that I will be 50 I feel like I’m in the prime of my life and notice there are people in their 80’s still living very active lives and more youthful. There are 40 year olds sitting on their butts less active than the older people these days.

That hurt to read that I’m now middle aged 😂....Ouch!! I just have had so many encounters and conversations with the older people that impress me. I hope that I have that mindset 20-30 years from now! Besides, I want to be a cool grandmother when the time comes 😁.@Platinum

I'm a great grandad and I'm very fit and active@Keepitsimple

Wow, how lucky are you to be a young great grandfather enjoying all of the generations! Congrats!@Platinum
SweetMae · 70-79, F
I don't consider anyone old until they start acting like they are.
Platinum · M
I totally agree....I'm like a kid most of the time@SweetMae

That’s true.. @SweetMae
I don't consider old anymore, there's no point, we are all the same
Platinum · M
We are that...we should all enjoy our lives@MushroomFaerie

Hmm, maybe 80 or 90? But that will probably change when I get into my 60's or so. It's funny, but I never considered my parents old, even when I was a kid. But then, I grew up with my Grandma (my mom's mom) in the house and helped take care of her, so I guess my perspective was (and is) somewhat different from most other people's (at least most other people I know).

There is no right or wrong answer. Age affects the body of course, but how does it affect the mind?
Platinum · M
Very true, it depends on how we visualize age @VelvetDoll
VelvetDoll · 26-30, F
@Platinum Age will always affect the body negatively. But it will affect the mind both ways: positively and negatively! I feel like older people get more open-minded on some topics and less on others. They are also more patient with few things and less patient with others... Like if their personality traits became reinforced with age!

Sometimes it affects the mind more than the body 🤪@VelvetDoll

I consider "old" to be a state of mind, rather than a specific age. I know some twenty something men, and their life is stagnant, so they are old. On the other hand I know several men who are 60+, and they are good-looking, attractive, interesting, open to new experiences (with me, for example 😁); in other words, they are young.
Platinum · M
@helenS love the way you think, I feel very young....
Pauly · 70-79, M
I'm 65, and grew up in an older family my parents were 38 and 57 when I was born. So I've know a lot of people who are old at 30 and others who are young at 95! I said age is just a number. Keep your mind busy, laugh, be optimistic, don't complain, don't judge, and you will remain healthy and will feel young for ever!
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
90 according to the 88yr old who I tried to put a rug over her legs.
But then again. 🤔
90's are the new 20's according to a 98 year old I knew.
Synyster · 51-55, M
I'd would go with 99 - when you hit 100, then you're old.
1pebbles · 56-60, F
As I work in senior care, it’s all relative, and a state of mind!
SW-User
I still see age 60 as the "old person" age....I'll probably bump it up to 70 in 10 years, haha.
SW-User
@Platinum I guess it's mostly just the number....the fact that for most of us the 60's will have us at the point where we've lived at least 80% of our life.
Platinum · M
@SW-User I know for a fact, when you are 70+ you will think differently...hope you live a long happy life...
SW-User
@Platinum Oh I'm sure that I will...as I mentioned in another reply on this very thread that in another 10 years I'll probably be thinking 70 is "old" instead of 60.
Pauly · 70-79, M
I think it is a state of mine. I know people who are old at 40 and some are young at 90. I’m 66 and feel 25!
Platinum · M
I personally think it's when you are unable to look after yourself...whatever age that is, but not saying I think you're over the hill...
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
Well, I'm 24 now and 30 seems like a huge landmark on the horizon.
SW-User
70 is old. 80 is ANCIENT, John
Platinum · M
You will change your mind as you get older, I'm 78 and I go the gym four times a week and probably go out more times socially than most people@SW-User
solitaire · 41-45, F
I’m 38 and I already feel old. I want to die at 50
TonyPajamas · 22-25
Around 50 years old.

Obviously you are young , although there was never a time when I thought 50 was old...@SW-User
SW-User
@Platinum I'm old

Your 50? @SW-User

I'm probably more active than you, but you are young and I thought the same at your age...@SW-User
