I deal with it through diet and exercise.

diet and exercise can help but in some cases that won't like in my it will but getting to that is also denied by depression i think a partner who can lift you up. even a friends with both sexual and mental benefits xD

@Lostpoet bark!
popmol · 22-25, M
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON nope staying inside and stay in my veil of depression!
@Lostpoet He is incorrigible isn't he ;) ...He is sooo young.

Heartlander · 80-89, M
Distraction.

It's like with joint issues, arthritis, etc. that only bothers you at night when you are trying to go to sleep. During the day, being distraction by day to day life and makes the discomfort of arthritis/joint pain go unnoticed.

Works also with some forms of depression.
All of the above ... Spending time in nature, funneling negative through creative practice, are two you did not mention.
Lostpoet · M
@lovelywarpedlemon ty. I'll fix that.🙂
leowander · M
I don't think this would be a natural method, but there are free subliminal therapies on YouTube for depression. There are music therapies I listen to for sleep. It's all tied together for me as waking up refreshed lifts your mood when you're having trouble sleeping. It's important to go outside for sunshine and fresh air and stay active and avoid junk food with empty calories. Look for ways to help others and be glad to know you made a difference in their lives.
Lostpoet · M
@leowander Yeah, I've tried music therapy too. There's this online music site Brain amp. That I used, I don't know of it helped for me though.

Music has helped me cope. Having someone I can just talk to and take my mind off it helps. If not, then I'm left with my thoughts and the self harming starts. :/
SW-User
@Lostpoet Not many see it that way, I'm afraid.
Lostpoet · M
@SW-User I know it's sad. It seems like it's only the ones of us that's been there understand.
SW-User
@Lostpoet this is true. 🤗
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
The vitamin D you get from sunshine and the brain patterns you get and natural darting eye movement while in thought during a walk are both biological ways to remedy or prevent depression symptoms.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Starcrossed Also check your vitamin B12. B vitamin have a role in brain chemistry. A deficiency can result in multiple mental issues.
Dusty101 · F
Swimming and a good friend to talk to without judging you and dropping you like a cold bag of sick... Which has happened many times.
Shouldn't have gone there!
Viper · M
@Dusty101 Yeah those false friends sure do suck, willing to drop you like you are nothing :(
Dusty101 · F
@Viper in fairness I was a Debbie downer and these "friends" were not at all interested in my stuff... So they cut all ties...
I could have been bringing them down too!
Counselling & comedy are two ways which can have a positive effect depending on the individual and how severe the depression. Walking is also good
midnightoker · 61-69, M
Depression is like being told happiness is right around the corner but you live in a circle..
BexEyes · 46-50, F
I surround myself with positive friends and family.
Lostpoet · M
@BexEyes that's a really good one. 🙂
Jibby · 56-60, C
Drop every fucking thing I'm doing and get to the ocean. Hopefully there's some waves I can ride but I'll go to the ocean even if it's like a sheet of glass.. I could never be in a sad mood when I'm there
Lostpoet · M
@Jibby We don't have many waves where I'm from, but we do have mountains, and I get that same feeling everytime I go hiking.
Jibby · 56-60, C
@Lostpoet say my dear brother.. mountains are just waves Frozen in place
Lostpoet · M
@Jibby That's really Deep, man. Nice
AlmostAnAngel · 100+, F
Sometimes logging off helps..in as focusing on other things for awhile.
Nakedgamer77 · 41-45, M
I play bass guitar. Music is my medicine!
Lostpoet · M
@Nakedgamer77 That is a perfect example I'm glad you have a skill to escape into.🙂
Carla1951 · 70-79, F
And we must add that illigal medications such as Weed should not be listed.(I watch the TV show 'Cops') and tho it is natural and helpful to many, it is still not legal careful and take great care.do your homework,weed is beneficial for our health, however is not legal to be used recreation ally. love to you all.
Lostpoet · M
@Carla1951 agreed, but I want to know what ways people cope and most people that start using illegal drugs are just looking for an escape. And a lot of them didn't have other, better alternatives like family and god given skills to fall back on.
SW-User
friends, nature, lots of good distractions
LadyGemini · F
Broke out of my routines and did new stuff
BrattyMel · 31-35, F
My coping mechanism isn't one I'd advise 🙈
BrattyMel · 31-35, F
It works for a short period of time, then I just end up regretting it. I of course advocate healthy coping skills and do not want others to think SH/SI is a good route to take because it's not. It's just as bad as drugs and alcohol. @Lostpoet
BrattyMel · 31-35, F
No, but I am sure she'd listen if I approached her about it. @popmol
popmol · 22-25, M
@BrattyMel she sounds lovely :)
Nature is a huge help to me. The sunshine, taking a walk, going to the beach all help balance me. If I can't do any of those I crawl under the blankets and watch movies.
growingSoul · 22-25, T
Personally, I've found that a combination of interacting with open-minded, kind-hearted people and doing a healthy amount of exercise can help a great deal 🙂
I would tell you some stuff, but I am logging off;
you have great and powerful things in line of defense here :)
Lostpoet · M
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON I'd love to here about it when you turn back on. I've been meaning to talk with you about music anyways.
@Lostpoet PM Me :)

And I just commented on what I love in life :)
Carla1951 · 70-79, F
My doctor recommends I self inject viles of B-12 once a month at least.(I have Chromes disease)it is painless injecting in my thigh muscle.
Idk i get depressed sometimes but it just goes away? Like idk
Lostpoet · M
@SStarfish I think that's just natural brain chemistry, it's when it doesn't go away and you wake up everyday wishing you didn't and everything is a struggle, like tieing your shoes or stepping outside. And It can be like this through out a persons whole life time.
@Lostpoet yikes 😳
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
CBD oil is probably a lot safer than using any of the other medications
Carla1951 · 70-79, F
It's always going to be difficult when alone. We need someone cover our back.
SW-User
Skip the diet part, exercise in more than just traditional ways
Caprice · 41-45, F
It's already been said but I'm saying it again:P
Sunshine🌞
SW-User
Diet and exercise for me too.
TAReturns · M
Mostly relying on friends
Carla1951 · 70-79, F
Sleep.helps sometimes.
Lostpoet · M
@Marta But doesn't the down drive you in further depression?
OggggO · 36-40, M
Viper · M
Honestly I'm not quite sure, usually I just talk about it, get what's bugging me off me chest, and it goes away.... of course that's not seeming to happen today.
Wiseacre · F
Yes, and mindfulness and CBT!
I try and start a new craft project.
Spend time with the kids.
Bake and cook meals.
Hide under the duvet and cry.
Watch movies.
Music.
Try and do something productive.
