You're body is trying to get rest and do the most fighting at night. So if you're awake that's not really working like it's supposed to. Best thing is just to rest as well as you can. Also sorry if you feel that way :/
Lying down the mucus accumulates in your lungs or just doesn't drain from your nose rather then going down to your stomach. Try to rest sitting more upright if possible.

pain in general is worse at night Has something to do with the moon , It controls the tides ,maybe it controls the water in our bodies too All I know for certain is my pain is much worse at night

Body’s natural defenses work to heal itself when you sleep. Doesn’t help that it’s more chilly at night as well.
