Why do people tell tall people to not lose weight?

My foster family freaked out when I told them I wanted to lose weight to be healthy. My older foster cousin said to me because I'm tall I don't need to be losing that much weight and I don't wanna be tall and look like a skinny bean pole. She said shorter people look better slender than tall. My foster dad said, "Don't lose too much. Remember you're very TALL at 6ft. Taller women are meant to weigh more than shorter ones." My family doesn't want me to lose weight. I'm 6ft and 220lbs. I'm large built and I wanna weigh at least 155 or 140lbs.
My other cousin is also tall but 5'9 and she is slender. Nobody talks about how thin she looks. She even said she wishes to put on some weight. She said to be 144 and small built.

Height doesn't have much to do with it. I don't know what your "ideal" weight would be, but if you feel you want to lose weight, I see no problem. Actually, tall people who carry too much extra weight will have worse knee problems when older. Do what makes you feel good(as long as it is still healthy)
