Do you think that if a smoker could smell what a non smoker smells every time they return from a smoke break they’d carry on smoking?

I think they don't give a crap till they stop smoking and then they are the biggest complainers.

@cherokeepatti I work in close proximity of a smoker and every time he returns from a cig break it’s the smell. I have to leave and go for an fresh air break.

@Ross19 I understand, the smell and smoke permeates their hair and clothing. Smoking inside shared offices was banned at the university and some of the smokers thought since there was only one desk in our office they could sit there and smoke every break and lunch hour. We had to move our coats out into a supply room because of it. I finally spoke up and they were forced to go outside and most went to the loading dock and smoked, same stink would follow them inside. If anyone mentioned allergies & asthma they'd say we were hypochondriacs. Sitting by a couple of heavy smokers at a meeting their denim jackets smelled like a huge ashtray of cigarette butts. None of them are working there today, tobacco use has been banned on the campus including parking lots so smoking inside of their own vehicle even with the windows rolled up is also banned.

i felt like that after i stopped smoking, but it doesnt make me want to have a puff any less.. i think i missed the repetition of it more than anything.

No, im an ex-smoker, it can be over powering, but i can move away or even ask politely for them to move if they have entered my space and it's too much. Its weak to be antagonistic and aggressive about it. I'll admit i dont like women in burkas because i cant see thier face and make a judgement on their demeanour but im not rude about it. The same with people in crash helmets. There's no need for intolerance and being rude!

@SW-User I’m not being rude. I haven’t said anything because I know there’s little I can do. Just annoying that I have to leave the room because of the stink.

@Ross19 I know ur not, possibly incorrectly I was aiming at haters in general, the intolerance of haters, not you or your post. I apologise if that is what you interpreted! 🙂

@SW-User Ahh I misunderstood and thought you were aiming at me. 🙂

I think some people like the smell of tobacco and some don't. I must agree though that smokers cannot smell the smoke that lingers on their clothing, I only noticed it myself after I had stopped smoking for a couple of years. I still found the smell of tobacco pleasant even after I had stopped.

It’s an addiction physical and psychological... so it’s hard to use reason to break it
