Is it medication or surgery that prevents vertigo?

You have to find the cause first before you decide on the cure. It can be caused by small calcium deposits that clump together in the inner ear. I can be associated with Migraine Headaches and syndrome or a build up a fluid in inner ear or an inner ear infection or even an allergy response and a bunch of other things. Once you find out the cause, they you can figure out if meds or other options are right for you. Go to a specialist and before you do something like surgery get a second opinion. This is not something that you should diagnose on the web or anything. A good MD is needed.

Depends on the cause. I think Bonine which containes meclizine is supposed to be helpful but a doctor should advise you.

Certain conditions require medication, namely meclizine. Surgery is a last resort.

I would hope medication. Mine was due to an inner ear infection.
Only your doctor knows, see a specialist.
