I was a Vicodin addict. Now I need much too much adderall to function. Is there a way I can still use enough to work but not overuse?

As someone who cares, let me ask you one thing... Is it worth losing your family? You know you will lose her if you go back. You need to find an addiction treatment facility and let them help you. Please, before you go back.

I can't. I am a Doctor - it would ruin me.@Fungirlmmm

@Genieinabottle You know that shouldn't be the case. There should be help for doctors, nurses, EMT's, and anyone who wants to honestly get clean. We are all human and not invincible. Please if you can seek help in a private setting. Heck write to that guy Dr.Phil and ask for help. Someone has to be able to help you without you losing everything.

@Fungirlmmm my life is a pile of shit as it is. My marriage is crap. My career is in the gutter. The only thing I have to offer is the money I earn.

I really think you need to get help.

@SW-User I got off the Vicodin, I have to believe I can get off the adderall too. I just need some time off work. I need to have some down time to dry out like I did with the Vicodin. It's been a year and I haven't been on a single bender with Vicodin.

@Genieinabottle I am glad you kicked the Vicodin. You can do the same with the Adderall. Ask for help.

@SW-User it's like I have to have something to be addicted to, it was cigarettes, then a girlfriend (or a string of them), the food, then Vicodin, now adderall. I don't know how to function without being fixated on something.

Addiction is addiction. The substance is incidental. I think you probably know that.

Alcohol would be so much easier because it is sociologically accepted.

@Genieinabottle To a point. Rarely are addicts in any capacity welcomed by many.

@SW-User the only reason I have been able to hide my addiction from everyone except my wife for so long is my position. Being a Doctor I know all the other doctors who will write for whatever. You ask them for. It's still harder than popping down to the package store though.
