I Think Good Friends Are Rare

Everyone has their definition of friends and I certainly would not debate any definitions that seemed to conflict with mine. But I've known some people for decades and still do not think of them as friends. I don't mean to imply there is anything wrong with them, or with me. For one reason or another, we've just never really invested ourselves in each other.

Then there are those people I've met and within a minute or an hour, or perhaps a day or two, I feel as if I've known them for decades. They "get" me, and I "get" them.

We could go on and on about this, of course, but let me wrap it up by calling attention to the fact that... If we hang out with people who do not share our passion, our values, our interests--guess what? Our real friends can't find us.

I look forward to reading other responses to this issue, and with any luck at all, I'll post a blog about this topic at my website... billyspages dot com

It's great when you 'connect' with someone new and you know you've found a friend for life. To me it's always a surprise and has been rare and precious thing. There are only so many people that can be entertained in life at any one time so receiving a new friend into one's life is a special moment.
