I wonder why do we take medicine when we can take all those nutrition from food?

Darkskiescoming · 51-55, M Best Comment
Not sure I could eat as many fruits and veggies as we need in one day.

Because if I don't take my medication I'll have seizures in my sleep, BIG ONES!!! And if I don't take my medication then my shitty pancreas might stop working, if I don't take my medication then my stomach will continue to produce too much stomach acid and I'll be in pain every day. If I don't take my medication then my knee joins will continue to ache whenever I hiking.

Food does a lot, but unfortunately not every body is a perfectly well-oiled machine. Some of us have faulty parts.

@pattycakechamp my god this show negetive point too

@pattycakechamp Aint that the goddamn truth.

In commercial farming for generations in the same soil artificial fertilizers are used and nutrients are lost as a result. Vegetables and fruits have been hybridized to last longer but holding them for many days or weeks or even months causes a gradual loss of vitamins. Also processed foods often lose nutrients depending on how they are processed and stored.

@cherokeepatti wow so lengthy

@Wateribbon there’s so much more but it would be good if everyone could have more local produce even in climates that require greenhouses and perhaps geothermal heating so that production can continue throughout the winter.

Exacto. Do people read the side affects on that shite?

There’s a difference between vitamins, minerals, and medicine.
Powderflask · 31-35, M
@cherokeepatti right and I’m not claiming that there aren’t some natural chemicals in food that are helpful im just pointing out the difference between medical treatments and a healthy diet.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Powderflask a healthy diet can prevent a lot of chronic health issues and even reverse some of them.
Powderflask · 31-35, M
@cherokeepatti yes some. And I’m not trying to be bitter I was born handicapped, practically living in hospitals. I grow mint and some herbs for herbal remedies. I believe it can help with some minor ailments. Pain relief, stomach discomfort, etc. but when I’m experiencing grand mal seizures and spasms there isn’t an herbal replacement for diazepam. Brain damage exists, spinal cord damage exists.
Most medicine offers a lot more than nutrition.

@NerdyPotato and complicated too
@Wateribbon yes, that too

@NerdyPotato whenever I tried to learn science my brain goes 🤯
Some foods are hard* to keep on hand or we don't like them. I read somewhere that half of Americans don't get enough vitamin d.

@Spoiledbrat yeah that's true
