I'm so sorry. My dad died at this time of year. It certainly takes away the joy.
I hope you can find some peace in the knowledge that he is probably ready to let go. I didn't. But my dad assured me that he was ready for goodbye. In the beginning he was sad because he wasn't going to live long enough to see his latest grandchild be born, but eventually he just wanted it over.
I'll be thinking of you in this time of sorrow and wishing you peace of heart, even if your mind isn't ready to say goodbye.
