I Am Fascinated By Human Behavior

I am about to vent: I get sick of baby boomers always criticizing younger generations when they are the biggest babies and spoiled brats of us all. I work retail and the group that whines and tries to cheat us the most are aged 60 and up. As a matter of fact, I just had a lady come through my line very irate when she couldn't get an item for a dollar cheaper than what was asked. She slammed it down on the counter along with another item refusing to buy anything. She then stomped out the door turning around to give me a nasty look. Most baby boomers claim their parents didn't spoil them, but they learned a sense of entitlement somewhere. I've seen baby boomers act like brats my whole life. I especially saw it a lot from teachers in school.

Generalizing generations in general is generally not very useful.

@LyricalOne generally speaking of course.

I think you will find that a-holes and cheapskates come in every single age group. Seniors probably find it more difficult than most to survive because they live on a fixed income. I believe most of them live on $1100.00 per month net. Still, there are just some rude old a-holes out there, in addition to the rude vicious entitled young ones online.

I agree they are the first generation that made it worse for the next. But a lot of people that changed this country into what it is is from that gen. I admire how they fought for equal rights and the right to be yourself. Everything else I think they royally f*ed up.

I used to encounter a lot more of that when I first entered the workforce. I was 18, and I kept hearing my coworkers, most of whom were in their 30's or older, complain about their kids, most of whom were just a few years younger than I was. I remember one of them saying, "Oh yeah, he's a typical teenager, hates his parents . . ." I almost said, "Hey, I'm a teenager. Don't talk about my generation as if I'm not here." But I kept my mouth shut. It probably wouldn't have done any good, and I might have ended up antagonizing them.

Maybe they remember a time when things cost less than they do now. That's the only valid excuse I can think of. But people in general can be very rude too. That's one of the reasons why I no longer work in retail or customer service.

Maybe she was having a bad day but l agree her attitude was awful. Makes you wonder how they were raised and raising their children!
