Don't Try This At Home...

A man in Cohoes, New York was apparently trying to bend metal in an attempt to imitate the History Channel television series "Forged in Fire" when he started a barrel fire in his backyard that quickly spread. The TV series is about bladesmiths competing to create “history’s most iconic edged weapons."

The Times Union of Albany reported that three buildings were destroyed, 18 others were damaged and at least 20 people were displaced. The city is under a state of emergency.

The man was charged with felony reckless endangerment and misdemeanor arson. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Thursday night and was jailed on $15,000 bail, the newspaper reported. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for next Tuesday.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

@SW-User Unfortunately, true.

I never cease to be amazed by the heights of idiocy some people manage to reach.
sciguy18 · M
@diablesse Or simply a lack of planning and acknowledgement of one's limitations.

Sounds like he should sue the TV channel for giving ho ideas. He was better off with an empty head. 😀

@carl52 What would all mothers say? "If everyone jumped off a bridge, would you jump too?"

Big Ooooops!
I do watch that show sometimes..
sciguy18 · M
@Magenta Yeah, I guess "my bad" simply wasn't sufficient for the local authorities.

Wow. As Bugs Bunny would say, “What a maroon.”
sciguy18 · M
@ChampagneOnIce Exactly!
