What about confidentiality?

@InOtterWords Confidentiality protects the psychiatrist, himself from talking about the treatment I'm getting, but they psych office reports expenses to my insurance company, which my parents can see because they control the insurance.
@BlueVeins I thought all treatment is confidential.

@InOtterWords I mean, the treatment itself technically is, like they couldn't ask what service I recieved, but the fact that it's a psychiatry office is kind of a dead giveaway. I don't think they could see what prescription I'm getting, but they'd see that the insurance is being charged for a prescription.

If you think about it, it's kind of necessary for parents to know what claims are being made to their insurance because otherwise, there'd be no way for them to spot fraudulent charges from interlopers.
@BlueVeins I guess.

Do you think you should maybe give them a heads up?
@BlueVeins as a parent, I would feel a bit upset that my child needs help but couldn't confide in me, but also impressed they are taking steps to get better.....does that make sense?

Although, at the end of the day it isn't about them it is about you and whether you prefer to have the discussion on your terms or on theirs.

@InOtterWords Should I? Yes. Will I? No. I don't think I can make myself pick up that damn phone and say "hey i'm getting treated by psychiatrist no questions thank you." And honestly, if they feel upset about me not confiding in them, I understand that, but like I can't do anything about it if you get me.
@BlueVeins I understand that. Xx
