Yesterday morning was my date with a long desired ride in a Hot Air Balloon. I have been wanting to experience this for 20+ years and finally booked and paid for my passage. I stayed overnight in a Country Hotel at Northam, where the Windward Balloon Company is based. Stipulation was to be at the Airport at 4.30 am for transport to the Launch Site. Not there on time? Bad luck. Timing is crucial with Ballooning. Not there on time? No refund and at $300 for a one hour flight...... I awoke at 2.30 am and daren't go back to sleep lest I overslept. The Balloon Landing was perfect. Touchdown, sideways movement no more than ten feet. Incredibly, the Pilot then "Jumped" the Balloon onto the trailer in one perfect movement with the passengers still on board. Stunning manoeuvre.(Spell that without looking it up-I couldn't) Have you been thinking about taking a Hot Air Balloon ride? As I said, it took me 20+ years of humming and Hoeing, made the decision. Perfect. Do it when your season next comes around
