If the alternative is relying on some "awaken" youtuber or blogger who also profits from spreading (even worse) bullshit.. it's better if the general people stick to the traditional media. Unless you somehow manage to make people understand scientific peer-reviewed papers directly without anyone explaining them, but I doubt it's realistic.

No. Their job is to tell you what happens in the world but make money in doing so. They don't necessarily lie, but they will pick and choose what they tell you and - more importantly - what they don't in order to maximize sales.
Besides that: nobody knows the whole truth. The best we can do is try to get to it as close as possible and some journalists are better at that than others.
