I Have Aspergers Syndrome

When were you given your diagnosis and under what kind of circumstances? I was diagnosed when I was nine years old, though it apparently was building since I was 4.

I was five or six tonight got diagnosed but my dad said I was born with it. I still don’t understand how you can be born with it?

I am not sure about Asperger's developing with you from the age of four; I suspect that is when it became apparent to people. I only found out my own situation MUCH later in life.
A great friend of mine and expert in it says, "I don't as much think of you as having a label, I just think of you as my friend Ray who thinks differently.".

@MuddyWelliesLover96: I'm exactly the same. But it's not aspergers. I'm just....very slow. It makes me cry. Everyone makes fun of how slow I am. I even take too much time to memorize things or process factual sequels in my head of something I'm studying and then retain it. :/

@Rollerskatesandpocketblades: I wouldn't call myself slow - I apply myself in areas of great interest to me and can retain lots of information. But I feel self-concious that all my info is useless.

Not sure about my diagnosis but I remember being told when I was 8 years old. My brother accidentally told me. Then it made sense why I was different from everybody else.

@Sarabee No, Sara, you are born with it and it is the way you are. Probably everyone has a few autism spectrum traits but those actually on it have a trayful of them. Those with Asperger's have a tray filled with a kind of subset from the selection box. (How no-literal is that! I should get a sticker for that. 😀 )
