I Am Thinking About Being a Surrogate

Honestly, if husband agrees to this, I might consider it. A close personal friend of both of ours lost his son a few years ago. I'm not ready to have another baby just yet. But I know that he's a good man. If my husband agrees, I might talk to him about giving him a child, to try to heal the hole in his soul a little.

Ordinarily, this would be a hard pass. But maybe a kindness like that can be excepted.

EDIT: If it's not your cup of tea, kindly pass over.

I've never really read into this sort of thing or know anyone who has done this. I guess the question to ask is: are you prepared to let someone go who you created and is by all accounts, yours?

@SW-User I that you need to sit down and think about this a lot. This is a life choice, not a temporary thing and there are choices which effect a lot of people. Is there a support group you can talk to?
SW-User
@Laughman buddy, if I needed outside advice, I would have asked for it. I don't mean to be rude, but I wouldn't even think about it unless I was prepared to face what consequences may come, if any, even if I am unsure of parting with my flesh and blood. This post was not an ask for advice.

@SW-User ok fair enough. Good luck with any decision you choose.

Can his wife have a kid?
SW-User
@UserNameSW he's divorced. His son dying destroyed their marriage. If that wasn't so, this post wouldn't exist.

@SW-User hope he feels better soon. Getting pregnant is a big step - think it through carefully.
SW-User
@UserNameSW no, really? Breaking news.

I have been pregnant before - I met my daughter in December. I know it's a discussion topic with husband - that's exactly why well be talking about it.
