I Am Loyal to My Friends

Loyalty is a dying quality these days. Have people forgotten, or ever known, how to be loyal? There comes a time to cut someone loose if they derail us with negative energy, lies, selfishness, or we are being used, or have diverged down such different paths we no longer connect. Beyond that, what makes it so hard? In large part, people just seem to disappear; is it so hard to remain by a friend's side?

Sometimes people are so focused on what they want from someone else they forget the altruistic nature of friendship. Not everything is about what *I* can gain from someone. It's also about what we can give. Loyalty is dying. It isn't always easy. Sometimes there are even obstacles to overcome to remain loyal. It is worth it if you find a rare connection.

My true friends are treasured and will last a long time. If only more were loyal out there.

You make very good points and I agree. I think to often in the online world people see it as "not real." What makes the other person you are typing to "not real?" Sure, people lie online, but people lie offline. Why does seeing someone in person make the friendship more important? It's like the the lack of physical presence makes it easier for some people to completely disregard someone they call friend.
Ditto on your last sentence:)

Great post! i think it is a dying quality. I am loyal to a fault and expect others to be. I have put myself out for people only to be screwed over. It is a bitter pill to swallow. I have learned to let go quickly

How heart wrenching. I, too, know this feeling. Even more than being screwed over, it's people I enjoy having a connection with who simply vanish. Sometimes for no apparent reason.
