I Think Breastfeeding Is Beautiful [Breastfeeding]
I fully support breastfeeding, in public as well as for an extended period of time. Because of society (and solely society) it's become taboo to feed your children out in public or to feed them past the age of 2. Which to me, is utterly ridiculous.
I will be breastfeeding my children wherever I take them, and for as long as they need me to. I will "wean" them by introducing new foods and I training in them a curiosity. But I will never force them to stop. Breastfeeding isn't sexual, it isn't deviant, it's a beautiful and pure act between a Mother and child. Any mother who chooses not to breast feed or who weans her child because of what society thinks, is no true Mother in my opinion. And yes, I realize that is a bold statement- but it is my belief.
People have asked me what I'm going to do when my child is "13" and still asking for my boob, or have told me how stupid I'm going to look when I feed them, but if you raise a child properly and give them independence and a healthy psyche, they will grow out of it naturally and want to feed less and less. However if my child is older, even an adult, and they have a bad day or their first heartbreak and want their Mamas comfort I will happily feed them if they ask.
I don't understand people who have a problem with public breast feeding. It's a problem with women being overly sexualized. It's so disturbing that people think feeding a hungry child publicly is wrong. That's what boobs are made for, not for men's pleasure! (Shocker)
I don't really understand the people who are against it. They're effectively advocating that young infants should go hungry just because of their sensibilities.
I have breastfed all my kids and have let them nurse as long as they want, my 2 yr old is still nursing at every meal. I give her solid food but she still wants mommy milk
My daughter has breast fed both her children wherever and whenever they wanted feeding ..if anyone said anything she just told them to stop being a pervert n stop watching or she would call the police...lol ..everyone of them shut the hell up n left ..
That is music to my ears, I adore your for being you, for being a caring mother regardless of what others think. Go ahead, nurture your child for as long as it takes and both of you will be better for it. God bless. Joan :)
