I Often Feel Like Depression Has Me Not That I Have Depression

My psychiatrist started me on Prozac. It’s been hell. It seems like i’m even in more bad shape. I can’t even describe my depression. I feel so empty and bored at the same time, I can’t find the meaning in life. At all.

Hold on and just keep trying. Most antidepressants take several weeks before they are effective. Not to mention dosage adjustments and sometimes completely switching prescriptions.

@offingg you definitely need to reach out to your psychiatrist. You should be seeing some improvement by now.

The trick with antidepressants is finding the one that works for you. Due to differences in body chemistry, some antidepressants don’t always work for some people but may be perfect for others. There is actually a DNA test available that can tell you which ones will likely work best for you. That may be something else to discuss with your provider.
