I Was Adopted

I was put up for adoption when I was 2 years old and fully adopted when I was 3 years old by my current family.

@Makncheese There is no more likelihood that adoptive parents will be good parents than that natural parents will be good parents. Some parents are just not very good at being parents. My (adoptive) mother was sadistic and loved to see me cry. Abusive parents come in both varieties, adoptive and natural. It looks as if you and I were not among the fortunate adoptees who got good parents. I don't know why you think I am somehow defending bad behavior and unloving parents--I'm not! If you read my Featured story you will know how much I suffered in my adoptive home. And, of course, it is wrong when parents are unkind and unsupportive, even outright cruel.

By the way, I eventually located my birth mother when I was in my 40s and discovered she was, in her own way, as awful as my adoptive mother. Eventually, I met my birth sister and she told me she calls her (my) mother "Momster."
Adoptive or natural, some parents are just not good people.

@Makncheese Have you thought of finding your original mother and getting to know her? From what you say, she did not want to give you up.
