Yes. Mission accomplished. She wanted to die and he wanted to murder someone. They both got what they wanted. EP wasn't responsible. Those things have happened before. Long before the Internet. People asked to die using the personals in newspaper classified ads. Meeting at things like suicide support groups. The newspapers weren't responsible. The support groups were not intended to be used to solicit murder, but to help people not want to die. Support groups aren't responsible. Book clubs aren't responsible if two people read the same book and decide to act out one of the death scenes.

Here's a link.

Story is true, but EP had a lot of legal trouble long before this murder happened.

@rebelliousgal. No. He didn't. She told him she wanted to die. He took her into the woods, tied her up, strangled her and cut her throat. He didn't force her to commit suicide, unless you call that suicide. True, though, travelling to meet him was suicide, because death was what she wanted and death is what he gave her.

LastingSunshine: I think they had to close it down because they had to reveal the identity of the murderer and they'd have to provide information on anyone's account the government asked for. It was against their policy

Well anyone that believes a website is responsible better go and live in a room with no doors and windows forever and have no contact with the rest of the world
Sueisright · 31-35, F
I'm not exactly sure of the way to put this well, people live and die ,people like and hate ,people do the greatest and the weirdest of things,we are all different, however we have a way with or without internets through a million other ways to find someone with simmillar interests and when your on a mission you seek out that person no matter what. The net has made it quicker maybe but it dosent control anyone it's always there choice to do something,or to not do something!

I don't remember it exactly. It was something like this:
The woman was obsessed with twilight and they met through such a group on ep. She was depressed and started talking to him. They chatted for a long time and that used to talk about suicide. At last they made a suicide pact ie both people agreed on suiciding. They met and he proceeded kill her (or she suicides and he didn't. Don't remember well). Anyways ep was found to be the cause of it coz they met there

They had enough data to sell for years to come and the hassle of running the site probably no longer needed it

Honestly I think the site grew more than the originally planned. Due to advertising EP got alot more users
Alot of the new users did not know what EP was created for. Thus they were abusing the site. It became a major headache for the admins! Also it was lack of funding, it all comes down to lack of funds and abuse of terms and conditions. EP become the opposite of the creators idea.

It is nonsense. There was a murder, sort of, but more like she wanted to die and he wanted to kill so they agreed to meet so he could kill her. Yah, they met on EP. So what? Is EP supposed to be blamed for the broken hearts of the people who thought they were in love only to find out that the person they loved didn't exist, it was just someone playing with emotions? If they had met on Facebook instead, she would still be dead. We could just as easily blame the persons who first dreamed of communicating electronically. Those two people decided to do what was done in the woods.

EP had a lot more legal problems than a couple of lame brains fulfilling their separate, but complementary fantasies.

There were obviously reasons and we'll never know why fully as like any business you tell no one
Sueisright · 31-35, F
So never introduce anyone to anyone in case your responsible for anything in the future lol
Sueisright · 31-35, F
What difference does it make where they met? I don't quite get the reasoning that a website is responsible ?
Degbeme · 70-79, M
That couple were on EP. Whether there is any fact in it is still speculation.

But it wasn't the reason behind EP shutting down right? No one knows the real reason.

But lesson learnt:One should not divulge any details to anyone online here...
Sueisright · 31-35, F
Of course it was loosing numbers they gave a month notice that it was shutting
Soulspace · F
forced a woman's suicide? But it was all online..?
How was that even possible?
Sueisright · 31-35, F
U can't blame a website for someone's actions!
JQuest7575 · 41-45, M
This is new to me. The news report link was hopeful.
rebelliousgal · 31-35, F
Yeah somebody forced a woman to commit suicide
Sueisright · 31-35, F
Then u could say mission accomplished
rebelliousgal · 31-35, F
