The average American moves 11.7 times in their lifetime, making them have at least 11 places they鈥檝e called home. What鈥檚 your number so far?

Took me a bit to recall, but so far mine is 23 馃槼

I can think of 12.
They also eat 3000 calories a day but only walk a 800 paces.

Having experienced a period of being homeless I'd often " move" each day. Countless... 馃し鈥嶁檧锔
DeWayfarer61-69, M
[@1189287,Trippy] two of the most highest periods were basically homeless periods... The 7 and 9 times. I could have said higher.

11. I suppose the .7 could be those times in the beginning when I lived with mom and dad in between moves. 馃槀

If we limit it to "City" then it's hard to count. If we limit it by county... four.
I travel full time from state to state, and have for years. So i am not exaggerating at all when I say i have moved well over a hundred times
Gwyneira51-55, F
I've moved five times. I'll probably move one more time at some point once I'm retired.
Keepitsimple51-55, F
I moved 8 times before I was 20
DeWayfarer61-69, M
[@11509,Keepitsimple] got you beat! 8 before 18! 馃し鈥嶁檪锔

[@412417,DeWayfarer] It鈥檚 not easy and not good when you鈥檙e a kid. You never get comfortable or allow yourself to become too close to people because you know it鈥檚 temporary :(
DeWayfarer61-69, M
[@11509,Keepitsimple] the best time in my life as a kid was the three years during junior high. Everything afterwords was constant adjustment. 馃様

I even had to adjust in elementary school because I went to two different elementary schools. Though I didn't move homes.
DeWayfarer61-69, M
Before 5 yr old: 5 times
Between 6-18: 3 times
Between 19-24: 9 times
Between 25-32: 2 times
Between 32-42: 5 times
Between 43-48: 7 times
Between 49-61: 3 times

Total.......... 34 times
Stereoguy56-60, M
[@412417,DeWayfarer] Just wow!
DeWayfarer61-69, M
[@78387,Stereoguy] three different highschools in three different counties much less cities.
Stereoguy56-60, M
[@412417,DeWayfarer] I can't even imagine that.
DragonFruit61-69, M
I've moved 7 times in my life, but a couple of them were for school away from home.
I've had 5 places that I've considered my home...3 growing up with my family and 2 since I got married...almost half my life in my present home (since 1988).
I think it's 11 or 12
Stereoguy56-60, M
6 for me.
keeper41-45, M
I've lost count - I definitely hit the over on this one.
JoePourMan61-69, M
We are in #10 right now and I expect we will want to downsize in 10 or 15 years
PerfectionOfTheHeart41-45, F
[@1097981,JoePourMan] I understand that want. We鈥檙e the opposite and will be moving one more time in the future for the ranch and land we鈥檝e always wanted.
ChampagneOnIce46-50, F
I鈥檓 at 17.
JesseInTX46-50, M

Xipooh26-30, M

Wow that seems like a lot...馃槄13 for me so far馃槉
[@436944,PerfectionOfTheHeart] And it鈥檚 my 13th year at the current house which is the longest I鈥檝e stayed anywhere...
