For a little while I lost my mind over someone ... guess it’s the same thing kinda

They had the effect on me that could shift my mood, usually making it worse.

I wouldn't say control, but they certainly affected it.

Yes. An ex of mine, she and I were really in love (at one time) and she and I had the ability to effect each other's emotions and attitudes. Sadly with most things this became toxic in the end. Had to cut it off.
