I Have a Question

Everyone, what do you think it's going to happen after this COVID-19 blows over?
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Well it won't blow over that's the problem.

Some are going to die from this and few are going to get the chance to even say goodbye.
That in itself leaves a nation in grief.

How are you ever supposed to trust things like foreign travel ever again ?
How are you ever supposed to trust politicians and leaders when you now know they offered you up as a willing sacrifice to the god of capitalism for the sake of your economy ?

As a politician/world leader. How do you even begin to apologise for something like that ?
Why wouldn't you hound them out of the country ?

I keep thinking of all those poor bastards who are stuck abroad because even NOW they can't organize a sodding plane to go and pick them up !
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Quizzical Again. Another pointless comparison with something that happened so long ago as to be irrelevant given advances in everything medical since.
FACT remains, we could and should have stopped ALL air traffic and THEN traced every person who flew in with a China stamp in their passport.
Instead of which we now have an equally pointless exercise of telling folk to stay home and await some VAST supposed programme of screening.......too late.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@Picklebobble2 There will always be something beyond medical advances... Different age, same problems.

Hardly pointless though. We learn from history.

Well... some of us do 😒
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Quizzical CLEARLY we DON'T that's the point !
We'll still be in lock down because the damn government has no exit strategy...

When everyone breaks out, the increase in pollution will cause a spike in lung condition related hospital admissions.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@HootyTheNightOwl To say nothing of whatever it may leave people with. I imagine there are plenty of pregnant women right now who are worried if this may affect their child.
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@Picklebobble2 People will either leave with extra weight, pregnant, broke, or have become a hermit or any other health problem. The problem is we are still 2 weeks or so away from the peak.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
We'll have a battle to make various governments give up their new 'emergency' powers
HannahSky · F
People will be grieving.
@HannahSky That’s the hardest part of this. People are dying alone, and loved ones are not even getting to say goodbye. 😞
HannahSky · F
@bijouxbroussard I can't imagine how hard that is. I'm trying to be aware that any of us could have to go through that with a loved one and prepare emotionally 😔
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
It depends on the virus. If it develops into a stable strain that can be innoculated against things will go back to normal in a year or two but if it is like the common cold and becomes more deadly we can expect that we will need to eventually break quarantine just to survive and make due as best we can knowing that a large portion of the population will eventually be infected and those with the wrong pre-existing conditions or genetic makeup will die. Providing that the proportion of the population affected is not too high we will be able to compensate but if not, civilization will break down and need to reset. This has happened before.
fources · 41-45, M
@Tastyfrzz A year or two seems to be the timeline people are pointing to here, should that be the case, we are in serious trouble.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@fources oh, we are in serious trouble all right. Thing is, we are in denial right now. This is going to go through all the stages of grief.. denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Trump is likely going to be taking the brunt of our anger. We hear the bargaining as stated and hospitals frantically try to get the supplies they need and Trump tries to transfer the blame from himself. The depression will occur when we realize what we've lost. This going to take some time.
First, going by past pandemics, it won't blow over for at least a year or two. So what happens after that will depend on how different countries handle that situation. I'd say we'll be spending the next decade rebuilding the world economy at the very least.
daisymay · 51-55, T
Depending on what the final cost is, I may be out making sure the remaining conservatives get their most fervent wish to meet their maker. We don't want them to be disappointed, after all. They are perpetual victims and listening to their shrill bleating when they don't get their way is already annoying af. Can you imagine what they'll sound like if, after their actions destroy the world's economies to the point we are in another dark age, they didn't get sucked up to Heaven in the embrace of white, Republican Jesus?

We shouldn't be forced to endure that torture.

@fources yeah...it'll never be the same eh?
fources · 41-45, M
@SW-User Not for a while. I mean the social distancing thing is changing the way we relate, if this continues for long...
SW-User
@fources I know ... it's the end of an era
maybe...everything will change.. 😟
Fauxmyope2 · 26-30, F
I hope that governments at all levels will have learned from their actions, inactions, successes, and failures to be better situated to handle possible pandemics in the future. I hope that citizens take a hard look at their elected officeholders and their responses during this crisis.

I fear the financial fallout around the world for businesses and individuals. It will be a complex problem in coming up with answers and remedies.
MelanieUK · 22-25, F
a mass training up of Midwives around the world
fources · 41-45, M
@MelanieUK LOL. I totally agree, I see that happening.
monkeysdevil007 · 46-50, M
A plague of locusts
We'll feel sad and everyone will be nice for a few months, then it'll be back to usual. Investment in microbiology, and governments attempting to be less reliant on China too, but that's a long process
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
There's going to be a lot of people jobless and the economy is going to be pretty bad for some time. It could be really bad.
Butterflykisses24 · 51-55, F
Im hoping people will be able to pick up and reconnect with loved ones.Im hoping people make it out the other side.
Adamski24 · 41-45, M
It's not going to be completely over for 3 years we will never be back to
normal
So who can say
fources · 41-45, M
@Adamski24 Yeah, I have some doubt about things going back to normal, just can't pinpoint what aspect of life will be greatly affected right now.
raysam363 · 31-35, F
Definitely a re-think of globalization practices. Not elimination, but the world economy will very likely be changed forever.
SW-User
people will be hugging and embarrassing each other, and maybe enjoy their normal lives once again for a month or two
