That is where we are headed though. People have sat back and watched the system be implemented incrementally, replacing the staff of colleges and government agencies brought into alignment. We are two thirds of the way down that "slippery slope" that conservatives have been talking about for 50 years. Back in 2015 Mitt Romney talked about the 47% that were unreachable, 47% of the country on some sort of public assistance, and the number is greater I believe because they have control of seniors living on Social Security. The only saving grace in 2016 is that the majority of that 47% are concentrated in major cities in states that are already voting for liberals. Had they been more spread out, the electoral college would not have made such a difference.

@Bluesky52 So true, but not everyone believes it. I remember seeing AOC in an interview, talking about how the government should handle healthcare for all, when asked how they would pay for it, her response was "just pay for it". The attitude is that the government spends trillions of dollars, they should just pay for it. No idea where the money actually comes from.
