I Got The Cane At School

Did it do me any good?
Well it taught me not to buy cigarettes from the local shop and sell them to other boys that couldn’t get served in there.
Did it do me any harm?
Well six burning stripes across my bum , that lasted a couple of days. Stung like hell when sitting on tha hard wooden chair in class.

The cane is a serious punishment, but used appropriately it can be very helpful. I got it a few times at school and it was very effective.

I was caned in high school quite often, usually by my Housemaster but a couple of times by the deputy Head. Most of the time I saw it as a quick solution for misbehaviour and certainly preferable to detention or lines, etc. A few times I screwed up bad even though I knew the consequences if I was found out (and often was). On those occasions I was fairly philosophical about it.


Did it do me much good? Probably not; I still messed about and kept being caned. I still preferred it to the tedious lines, yard duty or detentions. Did it do me any harm? Shit no!

No long lasting harm. No obvious good.

It never really did any good and, in many cases, did a lot of harm. Several of my friends and I got it many times. It was so common it had no effect on us. My wife says it was much the same at her school, she and her friends got it several times too.
