I Love Films That Make Me Think About Life
Shoplifters (Hirozaku Kore-Eda, 2018)

It is not the first time I write about a film by Kore-Eda. There is a common topic in all of them: family. Here he tells about the life of a very peculiar 'family' that makes their living through shoplifting. At some point they 'adopt' some girl found in the street after being abandoned by her biological parents.
Based on true reports about poverty and shoplifting in Japan, Kore-Eda asks again one of the big questions in human history. Who are our real familiy? Is family determined by blood, or by affection ties?
