I Want to Know

How many of the things you own are a symbol, and how many are jusr an object designed to be useful in any way?
Are we losing touch with symbols? Will a time come when we lose our symbolic mind?

I have a bracelet with the tree of life on it, another with a triquetra, and a necklace representing the four elements and spirit. I would explain what they all mean, but then I'd might as well write a whole essay. Don't feel like it.

Many of the big things serve a function. It is in the small things that I tend to be more selective and endow with meaning. I do not know if they are symbolic, but a favourite dress will bring to mind the place I bought it or a favourite piece of sewing will invoke a certain state of mind I was in when I brought needle and thread to it. These are my escapist outlets in the midst of days of repetitive work.

The only tattoo I have is a symbol for spiritual enlightenment. [image deleted]

A lot. I think. In the stuff I own. No tattoos though. Wish I had one of those. 🤔
