I Am Lonely

@solitaire I think when women say they have platonic male friends, I believe it’s from their perspective only. Most straight men, are waiting in hope that they’ll get out of the friend zone, and get their “friend” into bed.

@ravenwind43 Yes, years ago, while lying in bed at night the loneliness hurt so bad that it was like a heaviness on my chest and shoulders. I thought I might have a heart attack my body tension was so acute. That’s why pets are so valuable to the lonely. They are loyal companions who need as much love and attention as the lonely person. My pets were my greatest comforters for years, but they all passed a long time ago, and I can’t have a pet here.

@Carissimi My cat passed away a year ago in Decmeber. He got me through those first 6 months so yes absolutely I get that. I have felt that heaviness also ((hugs))

@Beatbox34 Yes, it does, and that’s one of the reasons I don’t take anti-depressants. They don’t cure loneliness.

@Carissimi I don't too and I don't want to but the loneliness got me sick and mentally hurt. I would drink a lot too just to not feel it at times so yes it does harm as you said.

@greenmountaingal I find this to be true. The older we are, it is harder to find friends. Maybe extroverts have an easier time of it, although I do wonder how meaningful those friendships are. Those on the more introverted spectrum, and deep thinkers, need more meaningful friendships with people with whom they have a good rapport.

@jaymic64 Apparently, it takes a toll on your organs and brain. I can believe it. There have been times when loneliness has been so severe that it feels like a physical pain. It’s probably related to the stress and tension it brings about, which releases the stress hormone, cortisol.

@SW-User you can be lonely with others, even the ones who care. There are different kinds of loneliness, but it comes down to feeling connected to someone else, especially someone who gets us. 🤗
