A club in name only? [I Don't Want A Christless Christianity]

It seems odd to me when talking about christians we use words like "faults" and "not being perfect" to excuse thier atrocities.

And, no we are not perfect, but there is something to say about repentance and obedience.

When it becomes all about which side we are on Christianity and salvation is nothing more than a badge we pin to our shoulder.

Some have the attitude, since we are in the group, we are allowed to go against the very thing we say we believe in.

We are unkind, uncommitted, and dismissing of anyone that speaks out against anyone who commits grievous sins, because they just happen to have the Christian label.

This while accusing those outside the faith for lesser offenses and fighting a battle I don't believe we were ever really supposed to fight.

We are to pray for those who do not believe, we are to love those who do not believe, and when/if they are ready to listen we are to have answers for them.

Like it or not an atheist will not believe in the Bible simply because they do not believe the Bible.

They will not give homage to God, because they do not believe in God.

It is a pointless to act like they will and pointless to keep attacking and keep trying to convince people who are not wanting to be convinced that there is a God.

All it does it cause endless debates and strife.

I do not get this new Christianity that dismisses the christian living in sin while condemning the sinner living in sin?
How is that a light to world?

Yes,God forgives, but He declares one must repent and turn from that way of life.
And that is every day occurance because we are not perfect.

There is a big difference with making mistakes and continuing in them.

The most distrubing thing is that this conduct is defended if you're in the club and condemned if your not.

I think it is far worse to continue in these type of sins and claim yourself to be a Christian.

The bible was written for the believers so ,the condemenation must all so be a warning to the believers.

I sometimes think the people who need to be witnessed to the most are those in the church.

I do not say this in anger or in condemnation; I say it with great saddness and again, say I do not understand this new Christianity.

I Corinthians 5
Explains it all and how we are not to judge the world,God will, but to make judgments within the church.

It is very easy to look up and very clear to understand unless one muddies it.

I was once told to see if people really wanted to know what the bible said for themselves to just leave the refrences, to see if they would bother to look it up, So, that's why I chose to only give the reference.

You poor kid. It sounds like you are very angry even though you say you are just sad about it. I would say let go of of the anger, and even of your sadness, if you can, and give it to God.

I don't understand your anger, but I am a little different by nature.

Jesus Christ will save those for whom He is willing to bear witness, and we know the size of his heart. His love was so great that He died and was tortured first...for all of us. Who are we to try to dictate to God? Who are we to try to decide for Him?

I do a lot of genealogy work, and I think about this a lot. I am entering deceased families into a free database where they will probably, at some time, be blessed by those who believe that everyone, both dead and alive, should have the chance to hear the Word of Jesus.

There is a story told, in that religion, which I heard once, about a great white tree, and all believers in Christ hold on tight to that tree...and to do so they hold onto one another and to their faith with an iron rod...which is the gospel.

In the distance, is a house full of non-believers who are laughing and jeering at their faith.

I have this weird and different take on the story. I think about all the poor people in that distant house. I think all of the non-believers should be given a chance, and all of the sinners, and all of everyone, even believers who aren't up to the top standards. If they have passed over, let them choose for themselves, now, knowing what is beyond the veil.

@4meAndyou You cannot say that I'm angry when you do not know me and if I am angry perhaps it's okay, because many people in the Bible were angry at sin.
It says "be angry and sin not" and I do not believe that I am sinning in what I said.
I believe ,that many Christians, do not want to hear this, because it doesn't go along with their own personal view of the Bible.
I do not believe we get to have a personal view of the Bible.
I believe the Bible says what it says and will not debate you any further, unless you give clear bibilical references, because the Bible does condem endless debates.

I appreciate this post, which at least, is a fair and consistent perspective. I think what annoys many non-believers are the people who proselytize while being no kinder or more virtuous than those whom they confront. And when they make sweeping pronouncements and are challenged, their reply is, “the proof is in the Bible”. To a non-believer, it could just as easily be a Harry Potter book being used as a source. 🤔

@bijouxbroussard It amazes me, too, that they would find that the book which holds them to such spesific standers as love your neighbor as their self is so so often ignored and then they wonder why people resist/reject the message.
It's not attractive to be unkind, pushy, a busybody, proclaiming judments and then themselves acting the same or worse... what are we selling that is better than any moral deceant people already have?
We believe it is salvation, but having presented Christianity in such a rude and unkind way who'd stick around or even desire it?
