I Think It Is Okay To Be Gay
I’ve heard about how it’s a sin in the Bible many times. But I’ve always thought, if God truly wanted me to be straight, he would have made the male body less revolting 🤷♀️

Being raised very religious there is a couple things we were taught. The bible was written by man and is a compilation of writings. It also was edited by the Catholic church over time and Martin Luther King. It was written in another time and era...many of the things in it differ from todays society. An example is a man and woman should not wear the clothes of the other gender. But back in biblical times men did wear robes that looked like dresses. If you apply that to today...there would not be pants/jeans or slacks of any type for either gender to wear.

I’ve read the Bible many times and I’ve not seen anywhere in it that homosexuality is a sin. That being said, general immorality does seem to qualify as a sin.
For example in the case of Sodom and Gomorrah, which most people point to as evidence that God does not approve of homosexuality, the men of that city wanted Lot’s daughter just as much as they wanted Lot. It seems that God destroyed that city not because of homosexuality alone, but because it was an out of control den of rape and orgies.
And yes, i agree that for many people, same gender attraction is not a choice. It’s just how they are wired from birth.

Short version of multiple conversations I’ve had with gay Christian men:
I hate being gay. I don’t want to be gay. I’ve tried, desperately, to not be gay. I have prayed and begged God to take this away from me and make me different. For years and years and even decades I have begged God to help me change.
After multiple people (who don’t know each other) have told me the same thing, I started to change my option on this.
I do think there are some people who just decide to be gay because it’s currently “cool” to be gay. That’s just stupid and wrong (in my opinion). But I also think there are some people, for reasons I do not yet fully understand, are simply wired to have same gender attraction.
I’ll be honest. I don’t know how to reconcile that against my very deeply held beliefs that God’s sanctioned pattern is for a man and a woman to join together to form a union and to bring Children into this world.
It’s one of the (many) things I’ve decided that for now, I’m just going to have to wait on. In next life if we get to have a Q and A session, I’m for sure going to ask about this.
