I Want People to Share Their Poetry

The Dirt Road

In this dream I walk along a dirt road.
Think about the things that love and loathe.
Traveling down the road of the unknown.
Each step, feels more eerie, to the tip of my toes.
I Come to this fork in the road.
One stays dirt, and the other made of cobblestone.
I always take the path that is lesser known.
For I will learn more of life, through the ancient bones.

The dirt runs deep, in the earths core.
The things that once were, are now no more.
Abandoned cemetery, people have since forgotten to mourn.
Tombstones cracked, faded and worn.
It wreaks of solitude, the cemetery of the unknown, the unadorned.

A tree engraved with a heart, and the initials of two.
Supported a love to cherish, and lead them to say I do.
But above, the strongest branch held a noose.
It's been here for some time, I envision its single use.

I keep trailing down this dirt road made of the past.
It holds so much life, and a sadness that forever lasts.
It's lonely here, but still has a shadow that it casts.
To think of the good and bad that has come to pass.
Time is endless, It is slow, but still moves to fast.

Life is filled with the unknown.
One day our time will be the lesser known.
Someday, some one will walk along this dirt road.
See another life that was once lived, but has since been over grown.
They too will choose this path of the great unknown.

Our initials are still there and so is this love
Though I walk alone now
The love you left keeps my smile to stay
Pain is the lost and more is the wait
I will always fall
But you made the landing soft
Life can be mean
But you made it fair
One day,
I shall hold your hand
Again
And call upon time
It will bow like a lamb
For me to slaughter it
And meet death
When time has gone
Forever your hand will be with mine
Eternity, God will send.
