Are leeks actually just giant green onions?

@boklenholley7 Do you watch Food Network shows. Everytime one of the chefs use leeks, they explain how to prep them.

If you are ever in need of quick information, I would suggest looking at YouTube videos. There are so many knowledgeable people there, and watching a few different videos will give you a perspective on different directions you can go with the same dish.
