What is the best restaurant in your city?

tj7861051-55, M
Taco Bell. At least that's what I tell my kids, so they never get their hopes up.
Tryingtofindabalance36-40, M
@tj78610 oof... more like toxic hell
tj7861051-55, M

There鈥檚 a Mexican restaurant just outside of the city, named Habanero鈥檚.

I really like it.
ImpeccablyImperfect51-55, F
@Tryingtofindabalance I was teasing ;). I haven鈥檛 been to this place yet, but I鈥檝e heard terrific things about it...and I want to go! https://biera.ca/

The Cottage Cafe in Cle Elum, Wa. They make the best breakfasts there.
NorthwestM
@SW-User Looks interesting. If the pass is open on Saturday, I will stop there for breakfast, on my way to Leavenworth.
SW-User
You won't be disappointed and the servers are very friendly too.@Northwest

The French Laundry

(It鈥檚 one of the best in the world. I have never been!)

@Tryingtofindabalance It's not cheap, that's for sure. Are you going to be in Seattle, or the Eastside? Our area has gone mega upscale, so expect to pay Manhattan and San Francisco/Palo Alto prices, if you want anything other than chain restaurants.
Tryingtofindabalance36-40, M
@Northwest I am in Seattle every couple months... it鈥檚 expensive... everything costs twice as much there than most places... tbh I don鈥檛 get what鈥檚 great about the area... but then again that鈥檚 just me...
NorthwestM
@Tryingtofindabalance The mountains, ocean, lakes, outdoors, islands, skiing, SCUBA diving, wide open spaces, quality of life, among other things. It's getting to be more crowded. I'm a native Californian, but have called the Seattle area home, since school.

The tech industry, and a massive influx of Chinese money, has more than quadrupled real estate prices, in a short period of time, and with it, what restaurants charge. One thing that's still reasonably affordable, though about 500% more expensive than it used to be, is fish & chips in West Seattle, or any of the islands. Pike Place market, used to be a good place to shop for organic, inexpensive produce, and fish. It costs there more than 3X what you would pay at Whole Foods, for the same stuff. Another tourist trap, but everyone wants a picture with a background of the Cascades/Rainier, and the ferries.

I have no idea because I can't eat. 馃槶 Lol
SwampFlower31-35, F
@Tryingtofindabalance I am tube fed, yeah. He says Junior's is good and goes there a lot. There's multiple locations in the Jax area.
Tryingtofindabalance36-40, M
@SwampFlower I鈥檒l be in orlando... any suggestions for there? It鈥檚 a business trip so it doesn鈥檛 have to be a kid friendly spot
SwampFlower31-35, F
@Tryingtofindabalance No idea about Orlando, sorry. We just moved here recently.

There鈥檚 an Italian place I love and great coffee shops all over the place I pop into during my time off or when I鈥檓 at work on my lunch break.

My fave is the Chateau, an awesome Italian restaurant about 25 mins from Boston. Soooo good
Tryingtofindabalance36-40, M
@Coralmist that鈥檚 too bad... don鈥檛 make it to Boston that often, but I鈥檒l try to remember when I do
SW-User
I don't know. My favorite is called The Other Place.
Tryingtofindabalance36-40, M
@SW-User selfishly... I travel for work and was trying to get some good spots... is this place Greek?
SW-User
@Tryingtofindabalance American cuisine.
indyjoe56-60, M
Granny's lard kettle....馃樁
SW-User
@indyjoe truly? lol
indyjoe56-60, M
@SW-User 馃槃 I just made that one up....There really isn't a lot around here where I live though, a few fast food places and some little "mom and pop" type places ( of which some are pretty good) but nothing that most people would know or be familiar with. We have to travel 30-50 miles for that.
SW-User
@indyjoe sounds nice and peaceful I love places like that...except for the lard kettles 馃槃
Ruby Tuesday
Tryingtofindabalance36-40, M
@Elandra77 don鈥檛 fill up on that salad bar, you know you have a meal coming
@Tryingtofindabalance I try to skip the salad bar and just get a Ceasar salad. Maybe get New Orleans Shrimp.
Tryingtofindabalance36-40, M
@Elandra77 you....skip.... the....salad....bar.....at.....Ruby鈥檚......

.....you have to be a troll.... why else would you go there?
NorthwestM
Tryingtofindabalance36-40, M
@Northwest I鈥檒l check this out next time I鈥檓 in Seattle... I鈥檓 up there every few months or so
NorthwestM
@Tryingtofindabalance The next available reservation, is probably around April. I usually reserve at least 6 months ahead of time. Try Il Nido, in West Seattle, it has not been open long, but you need to make a reservation, probably a couple of months ahead of time.
The Cliff House.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard Love that place. Couldn't pick a favorite in SF, though, way too many to choose from...
Tryingtofindabalance36-40, M
@bijouxbroussard I went to some place that was a light house next to the beach in San Fran, can鈥檛 remember the name though it was pretty good...
NorthwestM
@bijouxbroussard My last visit was in September, the weather sucked and the menu is now purely tourist trap. Back in the day, the food was great, and of course, the drinks are always great :-) I was showing one of the kids my favorite hangouts, he's thinking about staying the city post grad school.

My preference now, is to cross the bridge, and take the second exit down to Marin :-) Little Italy is one colossal tourist trap now as well. One can go no wrong with Chinatown... Never been to Chez Panisse, could not afford it when I was a student, and it now takes a lot of planning, to be able to get a reservation.
