My word, that goes back a bit! "The genuine champagne perry", according to its advertising until the French wine industry had the word "Champagne" removed.
Also depicting the beverage served in saucer-type glasses rather than champagne flutes, even though doing that would make it go flat too rapidly.
The factory now makes cider and varieties thereof (perry is an apple wine anyway) but still has the fibreglass Babycham-trademark deer statue, now removed from roof-top prominence to a more discreet lawn at the side of the building.
