Been years.
It's overpriced, over packed and overdone.
I like the mom & pop coffe houses, more personable and more culture.
None of that whitewash franchise cold chill that comes from "cookie cutter " clone enterprise.
I wonder 馃 what the first starbucks were like? Like with most things that draw themselves thin with success... had beginnings that were treasures to behold then lost in the rat race rivalry.

I've wondered about that too sometimes. These large fast food/fast-casual chains have to adapt and streamline their production as they grow larger and go national. How similar or different was the menu and the food/drink at the first location? Same question for places like Chipotle, Subway, etc.

@SameSame I live on coffee. I don't like paying four dollars plus a tip for burnt swill. I take mine straight without sweeteners or flavorings.

Never. I call it Charbucks. I've had to when it was the only game in town. Starbucks was even in the cafeteria in the building where I worked and I left to go to either a deli or Dunkin Donuts. Eventually, it left, too.
I think if you have to put so much extra cream/milk/sweeteners/flavor shots in your product, that's an unconscious admission that your coffee tastes like ass.

@bijouxbroussard I am actually not a huge fan of those. The mixture of coffee and tea throws me off. To each their own!
