I've been eating vegetarian for 6 months, do you think lack of something found in meat is the reason for my skin outbreaks?

Or may tofu give such problems?

I've noticed these outbreaks before, I was a part time vegetarian (without tofu or Quorn, I just skipped meat), and I didn't have pimples the month around like I do now when being a full-time vegetarian.

Had a friend that went vegan and had that happen. She figured out it was the soy in the various meat substitutes doing it.

It can, yes. It's not as much what you eat - but also what you don't eat. Make sure that you are not suffering from any of the common deficiencies that some vegetarians suffer from, due to the lack of the minerals commonly found in meat. You can easily compensate by eating the right vegetarian products though.

Also it may be because of soy (admitted, it is speculative) which is disputed in terms of being healthy. Lastly it could be a personal intolerance.
I became a vegetarian at 11 years old, as a pre-teen and teenager, I never had troubled skin (maybe a pimple here and there), unlike most of my peers. But my parents never purchased me meat replacements either. So it may be what is in Quorn. I know soy can cause people to have bad skin reactions too 🤷‍♀️

It's probably not the lack of meat but instead the consumption of something you didn't eat before. I'd keep a food diary and flag up when you have outbreaks. Eventually, you will narrow it down.

When we're talking about outbreaks, are we talking about acne or allergy? Is it itchy? does collect fluid?

Tofu can trigger an allergic reaction.

If it's acne, how do you cook your veggies? Do you use oil? Or butter? How much every day?

How often do you wash your face? Do you use an anti-bacterial soap?

Do you use skin foundation or powder regularly?

Hormones and stress both play a major role but the above things make it worse. Soy reduces estrogen and that can cause acne. Zinc deficiency increases skin problems, Taking B12 more than you need can increase them too.

tofu and soy is not good for you. Asians eat fermented soy which is different.

Tofu doesn't give you skin outbreaks and there is nothing in meat that protects you. It mostly depends on what else you're eating. And... there is no such thing as a "part-time vegetarian." If you eat meat, you are not vegetarian. You don't eat any flesh from an animal then you are a vegetarian.

I've heard a suggestion that it may come from dairy in your diet. But I've also heard that it is part of the normal detoxifying process. (The toxins trying to leave your body through your skin).

BUT if it is normal for you to have acne or blackheads anyway, being a vegetarian or vegan will not change that. Only a great product will help, containing salicylic acid to clear and clean your pores.

I’m a little late to the party... it could be the soy or another food allergy. I have vegan friend that found out she was allergic to gluten and wheat. She discovered the allergy because she was getting bumps on the back of her arms.

Soy can increase estrogen levels, and that could possibly have something to do with it.
