Grits are just corn. There are some good ways to prepare it. Mix with sauteed onions and small chunks of cheddar cheese and bake. That is actually delicious. Even though grits look like cream of wheat, you can prepare them in any way that you would to complement corn and they will taste good.
I made them once and chilled them overnight in a loaf pan. It made something similar to meatloaf. You could slice it. So I sliced it, floured and egged and floured again, then fried the slices as you would fry french toast. I served the slices like french toast, with butter and maple syrup.

@ProdigalSummer and undercooked a lot of people don’t cook them long enough 😨. They’re simple to make, but easy to fuck up.

No. I lived in the South for 4 years and love Southern cooking for the most part, but I’ve never been able to embrace grits. To me, grits are about as appealing as warm wallpaper paste.
@SW-User haha. I think if you haven’t grown up on it then it can be difficult to like. I know a lot of people who feel that way about grits. My boyfriend is the same way he loves southern food, but doesn’t like grits. My parents make it all the time for breakfast so I don’t like it as much as I use to, but I still like it. It’s inexpensive and really filling.
