Why do Americans insist on putting jam and peanutbutter together in a sandwich

Riverman · 56-60, M
Gee, I am so glad you brought this up because we were almost out of things to argue about.

What's wrong with it? I personally do not care for it, but many people love it and it has been a traditional snack or meal staple for generations...especially here in America.
Riverman · 56-60, M
Because it is the correct way to eat jam and peanut butter. 🤦‍♂️
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
To annoy you.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
That's...popular in a lot more places than just America. PB&J is one of the most widely consumed sandwiches in the world.
Kerrmit84 · 36-40, M
@BlueMetalChick really? I didn't know that
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Kerrmit84 Are you possible Afghani? I know peanut butter is nearly impossible to find in Afghanistan.
Kerrmit84 · 36-40, M
Nope British, just not common over here
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
I wonder if it has a similar history to the Cornish pasty ?

For the uninitiated, a Cornish pasty is, these days, a flaky pastry case filled with meat and vegetables.
But originally it had meat and potato at one end and jam or fruit at the other.

Used by Cornish Tin miners back in the day so that they could eat whilst working without having to carry separate tins/boxes containing their lunch down the mine.

According to a brief piece on Wikipedia it suggests PB&J has only been around since WW2.

jelly, not jam... there is a difference...

and it's much preferred to that curry you Brits eat all the time... 😅
St0ut · 51-55, M
Mainly to pissed off Europeans

Longpatrol · 31-35, M
Blame Trump.
NorthernBear · 51-55, M
I haven't eaten that in years. As I recall it tastes good. PB with marshmallow fluff just sounds disgusting.
Fluffernutter's are a favorite New England sandwich. @NorthernBear

It was invented during World War II. Maybe go back in time and ask the person who thought of it?
Why do Americans insist on having an incompetent moron as president?[image]

I’ve been doing that since I was about 14. I’m not American but it’s nice

I tried jelly, but that tears the bread.

BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MethDozer It's mostly 25-40 year old White American females, often times from Western Jewish backgrounds.

@BlueMetalChick I bet they all dress only in under armour compression clothing and go out for bone broth together after class.
