People eat possum all over. It's not uncommon here.

Not that I think about it, my wife's family ate them too during the depression.

@CopperCicada I knew a man who trapped and cooked one in his smoker grill, they say they are really greasy. That man was a trapper and he knew a guy he used to work with that told him he would pay $2 each for possum carcasses, he'd skin them for the hides and freeze them up in a big plastic bag and when he'd get several dozen he'd take them to the man and sell them.
