Why do some people seem to take personal offense when someone else puts pineapple on their pizza?

I know of no other regular topping that causes such a reaction when someone else chooses it for themselves. I'd get if it were a shared pizza, but if you aren't having any why judge my bacon, pineapple, with black olives pie?

Good question. I notice the same reaction with pineapple in Asian dishes. Like the word "pineapple" on the menu will tend to draw a "what the ???" comment.

Some people seem to be very opinionated about pineapple, including me; I usually include pineapple on my pizza ) ... and in my fried rice.
