#2 but use just a little of the bacon fat from cooking the bacon on the bread an use less of the mayonnaise. Oh and lightly toast the bread.
Absolutely loved this as kid, still do but somehow it's losted its luster.

Addition: Use Iceberg lettuce! None of the fancy stuff. Can't stand some of the lettuce they use now days.
