Why my rice looks like that?

I cooked my brown rice and now it's sticking together not looking good.
What is the main reason please help.

Does it at least taste good?
I usually put a lot of water in my pot, like cover the rice by at least 2/3 and let it go. I've never had an issue with it.

@ManicMortuary yes it tastes ok not that bad
ManicMortuary · 31-35, F
@Abood3033 That's what matters.
Honestly, just Google it. We're all giving biased answers, Google should have a definite answer for you.

@ManicMortuary thank you i will

I boil mine in lots of water. Perfect every time. I found the directions on the internet.

Too much water tbh
Rice ratio:
2 Cups of Rice = 3 Cups of Water
Emarky · 31-35, M
if you don't want it to be sticky you should fry it before boiling in water. In my opinion it doesn't worth to trade health benefits for slightly better taste but after all it's your body - you decide.
Maybe you stirred it too much while you were cooking it. I always rinse my rice a few times before I cook it, and I make sure not to stir it a lot while it cooks and that helps with it getting sticky.

I am confused some say not enough water and some say too much water
Matty18 · 22-25, M
@Abood3033 Trust me, I'm a rice expert and asian xD
Emarky · 31-35, M
@Abood3033 there are different types of rice. you should read the instructions on the label. some may need 2:3 rice to water ratio others 1:3 the variations are versatile.
Matty18 · 22-25, M
@Emarky Yes and for the glutinous rice, it should be more than 3 or onwards☺👍 @Abood3033

Too much water. I've heard so many cooks say that it should be a 2:1 water:rice ratio but I've always found that 1.5:1 water:rice ratio is better.

Probably used too much water, that's usually what leads to overly sticky rice. It's a fine line.

you should never cook, it's insulting to the rice
Abood3033 · 31-35, M
@SW-User that was a rude a cooment it wasn't called for
SW-User
@Abood3033 this cooment wasn't rude if you really look at the rice
Abood3033 · 31-35, M
@SW-User i am still learning you cannot say i should Never cook. No body came a master after birth.

If you cook 2 dl rice, you pour in 4 dl water. You put it on the stove with a lid on, boil it up, then instantly turn the heat down to low so that it simmers. let it cook for about 10 minutes, then check the rice, the water should have evaporated. If it hasn't, taste the rice, is it soft then pour out the remaining water into the sink, if it's still hard, let it cook for another few minutes, if there's too little water and it's still hard, add some more. When it's done, remove it from the stove and let it to steam off for a bit.

@MartinTheFirst I use 2 cups water for every 1 cup rice ,,butter and a dash of salt ,but the rest just like you ,its perfect every time ,
you can do the same thing in a microwave ,
10 min check to see if water is gone ,fluff rice with a fork
but sticky rice is usually from stirring it ,you never stir rice
I have only been making rice about 40 or so years
only messed up a few times ,I am told scorched rice is called gra te',
its actually a dish in New Orleans
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@rckt148 I don't think you need salt, and especially no butter, it does nothing for you. But to the rest, yeah. Sticky rice is sometimes used in thai desserts, it's pretty good, you overcook it and stir.
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@MartinTheFirst the very old lady who taught me used a pinch of salt for a reason unknown to me ,but when something works perfect every time ,I don't change it ,except if I have made chicken I par boil it ,
so I replace the water with chicken broth ,
I was told the oil or butter insured it was never sticky
Like I said ,over 40 yrs of cooking ,no one has ever complained about my rice ,and I also make deserts with rice too ,my kids loved it in place of cereal ,with milk and sugar
TheWombRaider · 26-30, M
cooked it for too long my dude, the water must've evaporated
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Stick it in a sieve and pour some boiling water over it.
SW-User
It's probably overcooked.
🤔 Maybe you should steam it ?
WildHeart · 41-45, F
Definitely over cooked, you probably didnt add enough water when it was cooking
ManicMortuary · 31-35, F
