Top 10 Books
oh yeah, covering the triad tonight, books are simply the best, i'm not reading as i should lately but i shall soon, here i limit one volume per source
1. A Short History of Decay - Cioran - his most iconic work, full of breathtaking paragraphs, this hits the spot in so many ways, he knows so many interesting things, this can be a book that opens up many a door for the reader.
2. Daybreak - in the middle of Nietzsche's free spirit series, this is my pick, as it's where the rubber hits the road, perfecting the aphorism so that it glistens.
3. Either/Or - Kierkegaard's first major work is a massive delight, first part for aesthetics, the more flashy part which culminates in the classic Diary of a Seducer, and the 2nd part on the ethical side, inching closer to the heart of Soren's message.
4. The Man Without Qualities - LOVE this unfinished Robert Musil modernist novel of ideas, they just don't write em like this no more
5. Essays - Montaigne's superb humanist tract of everything that went bump in his mind
6. The Book of Disquiet - Fernando Pessoa's darkly lyrical exploration of the modern malaise
7. In Search of Lost Time - gotta include Proust here, no explanation necessary
8. Street of Crocodiles - Bruno Schulz - noone wrote like Bruno, this is literature on drugs
9. The Robber - Robert Walser, noone wrote like him too, this one is a jubilatory delight
10. The Monk - Matthew Gregory Lewis' bonkers gothic novel has it all, Bunuel wanted to adapt it to the silver screen, that would have been interesting!
